Living a Healthy Lifestyle Isn’t Always About You—Sometimes It’s About Who’s Watching


When we think about living a healthy lifestyle, we usually think of it as a personal journey... about us getting stronger, eating better, and feeling more energized.


But sometimes, it’s not just about you.


Sometimes it’s about the ones watching, the ones soaking in everything you do, especially when those little eyes belong to your nieces and nephews (In my case).



I’m lucky enough to have quite a few of those little ones in my life, and let me tell you, they’re always watching. Anytime I’m around the girls, especially, I know I have to be on my A-game. Auntie Brooke is kind of a big deal to them (in case you haven’t heard), and they copy everything I do… not just what I say, but what I DO.


These girls know Auntie Brooke’s workout schedule, they know how I eat, and they notice the choices I make.

And while they might not understand all the details, they see enough to know that health and strength are a priority for me.

My biggest hope is that they appreciate that and grow up to understand that living a healthy life is something they can aspire to as well.


It’s not about perfection, because trust me, Auntie Brooke still enjoys her dessert after dinner, but it’s about balance and respect for your body.

I want them to see that natural, whole foods fuel you, and treating your body with care means listening to what it needs, not just what tastes good at the moment.


And yes, sometimes that means enjoying some sweet treats or a Shirley Temple (the girls favorite drink), but knowing that it’s all about moderation.


I want to set an example for all of my nieces and nephews. I want them to see that living a healthy lifestyle isn’t about restrictions or sacrifices, it’s about empowerment.

I want them to see how strong their auntie is, how much I can lift, and how that strength isn’t just physical. It’s about determination, consistency, and showing up for yourself, even when it’s hard. Its the mental toughness that strength training provides, pushing through the hard times.


I hope that by living this way, I’m planting seeds for the future. Maybe one day they’ll look back and realize that Auntie Brooke wasn’t just working out for herself, but showing them a way to live.

A way to care for their bodies, to treat themselves with respect, and to value health as much as I do.



It’s About More Than Just Us


At the end of the day, living a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about what it does for you.

It’s about the ripple effect it creates in the lives of those around you, especially the little ones who are watching and learning.


Every workout, every healthy meal, every moment of self-discipline is a lesson they’re taking in.

They see the effort, they see the strength, and they’ll remember it as they grow.


So while I’m proud of the changes I’ve made for myself, I’m even more proud of the example I’m setting for them.

We’ll see what it does in the long run, but I have a feeling these kids are going to grow up knowing that strength, health, and determination are a huge part of life... and maybe, just maybe, they’ll pick up a dumbbell because of it.


We’re not just living for ourselves, but for the next generation.

Let’s make sure we’re giving them something to look up to.
